Meet Brigit Anderson ’24
Support to Finish What You Started
Brigit Anderson’s Loyola experience started many years ago. But after leaving college early to start a family and run her own business, she was only four courses short of completing her undergraduate degree. During the pandemic, Brigit decided it was finally time to finish what she started.
“The opportunity to come back to Loyola and finish what I started was a full circle for me,” Brigit explained. “And also to support New Orleans and to see that the Jesuit education was everything that I remembered that it was and has expanded even more.”
Brigit did not stop once she earned her undergraduate degree. She graduated on a Friday and jumped right into her online graduate program at Loyola Institute for Ministry on the next Monday.
“I would recommend the Loyola Online program to others because the program is very sophisticated, yet it's very intimate,” Brigit said. “And as an adult learner, the program is very supportive.”
A Mission-Driven Education
The Jesuit approach to education also stood out to Brigit because it felt very accessible to all types of learners. With an emphasis on reflection and applications to the real world, the program provided Brigit with tools to help others and make a meaningful impact.
“The Jesuit program means a lot about spirituality that appeals to the broader sense of what spirituality means. It's about connecting with other people and connecting with what's important with yourself and how you connect to other people,” Brigit explained. “The program allows you to take the information every week as you learn and use it in your work and day to day in your family life.”
Now that Brigit has earned her Master of Pastoral Studies from Loyola, she’s excited to start working right away to apply what she’s learned. She will start an internship in hospital chaplaincy in Atlanta this summer.
Loyola University New Orleans provides online undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs designed for adult learners. With flexible options like our Prior Learning Assessment, students may be eligible to earn credit for previous training and professional experiences.
