Online Nursing Students
Admission Requirements
To apply to an online nursing program:
- Complete the free online application.
- Submit your transcripts.
- Submit proof of an unencumbered RN licensure (uploaded to your application).
- Review the additional program-specific application requirements (graduate, doctoral, and certificate programs only).
- *Interviews will be required for selected graduate nursing program applicants. Interviews will be scheduled bi-monthly and with increased frequency towards the end of the semester to accommodate admission deadlines.

The following application requirements apply to BSN to MSN applicants and the accelerated-track RN to MSN for applicants with a non-nursing bachelors:
- Statement of Purpose (1-2 pages, double-spaced) addressing the following prompts:
- Describe your career experience (including primary area of expertise) and goals.
- Describe how a master's degree in the track to which you are applying will facilitate your career goals.
- Your expectations related to the time commitment required for graduate school.
- *Family Nurse Practitioner track only: Address specifically why you want to become an FNP.
- Resume reflecting a minimum of 1,800 hours of recent nursing practice (or 12 months of full-time employment in nursing).
- Applicants to the Family Nurse Practitioner track should include information related to recent direct patient care experience.
- Three references.
The following application requirements apply to the doctor of nursing practice program:
- Statement of Purpose (2 pages minimum, double-spaced) addressing the following prompts:
- A description of your goals for doctoral study.
- Research translation area of interest for your scholarly project.
- Your career goals.
- *BSN to DNP Family Nurse Practitioner applicants only: Address specifically why you want to become an FNP.
- Resume reflecting a minimum of 1,800 hours of recent nursing practice (or 12 months of full-time employment).
- *BSN to DNP Family Nurse Practitioner applicants only: Include information related to recent direct patient care experience.
- Three references.
MSN to DNP applicants must provide evidence of certification or licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
Applicants to the nursing certificate programs will be required to submit the following:
- Statement of Purpose (1-2 pages, double-spaced) addressing the following prompts:
- Describe your career experience (including primary area of expertise) and goals.
- Describe how the certificate program to which you are applying will facilitate your career goals.
- Your expectations related to the time commitment required for your study.
- Resume reflecting a minimum of 1,800 hours of recent nursing practice (or 12 months of full-time employment in nursing).
Official Transcripts
Applicants must submit official transcripts from all previously attended postsecondary institutions. Application decisions can be made based on unofficial transcripts; however, official transcripts are required before acceptance is official.

Please Note: All paper transcripts received by mail must be in the original sealed, unopened envelope from the institution where the coursework was completed for the transcript to be considered official. Electronic transcripts are considered official if sent directly from the institution or transcript service (e.g., National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, Scrip-Safe).
